It is not easy to say where Leucadia ends and Encinitas begin(South), but for serving the purpose of this guide, let’s consider the dividing point to be Encinitas Boulvard. Leucadia has in the offering, the two beach parks Leucadia State Beach and Encinitas County Beach, but the most important one, the three popular surf spots Grandview, Beacon's and Stone Steps. All the cliffs are vertical here and there is only single way down that is via one of three well-maintained stairways. This is a rocky beach and due to its isolation, often littered with kelp and other debris washed in by the sea. Beware of the high tides as it can force you dangerously close to the eroding cliffs. But it doesn’t effect the enthusiasm and the spirit of the Leucadia's principal beach users - surfers - who spend their time in the water, not on the shore.
